I believe it’s very important for Christians to understand what good and bad hermeneutics are. So many pastors and teachers use God’s word out of context and twist the word of God to get their point across. I use to believe that was okay, now I know that it isn’t, it’s wrong!
28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God[a] which He purchased with His own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
Have you ever read the above scripture’s and wondered what these” perverse things” are that these savage wolves will be speaking? Perverse things translated in the Greek is: diestrammena- to distort, misinterpret, corrupt: from dia and strepho, the short definition for dia is: through, on account of, because of. The short definition for strepho is: to turn or to change.
So how are these savage wolves going to draw away disciples after themselves? Through the misinterpreting, turning, contorting, twisting and changing of God’s word. Be very diligent friends, that you pay attention to what your pastor’s and teachers are teaching you, read your bible and make sure what they are saying is so! When you have a check in your spirit that something isn’t right, that it doesn’t line up, take heed and listen to it! Don’t be fooled by one of these wolves that has come to lead you astray, they will be hard to discern sometimes but if you study the scriptures daily and hide God’s word in your heart you will know when they twist or change scripture.
